David Scottel was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium, in the vibrant commune of Ixelles, a neighborhood known for its artistic heritage and diverse architectural styles.

Surrounded by the beauty of historic buildings and inspired by the contrast between old and new, David developed an early fascination with architecture and urban spaces. He attended Collège Saint-Michel, one of Brussels’ most respected Jesuit secondary schools, where he excelled in mathematics, technical drawing, and fine arts. His passion for structure, design, and problem-solving led him naturally toward a career in architecture.

After high school, David was accepted into the KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture, studying at the Brussels campus (formerly known as Sint-Lucas School of Architecture). He completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture. During his studies, he participated in an Erasmus program in Copenhagen, Denmark, which greatly influenced his minimalist and sustainable design style.

David began his professional career in Brussels at a leading Belgian architecture firm, contributing to mixed-use developments, public buildings, and residential projects. Over time, he gained recognition for his ability to blend historical context with modern functionality.

With over 23 years of professional experience, David Scottel is now considered a key figure in contemporary Belgian architecture. He regularly contributes to architectural journals, lectures at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), and serves as a mentor to aspiring architects across Europe.
